The Fayetteville Observer wrote an editorial today about the state's ballot access laws. The editorial gives a spot-on analysis of the problems with the current ballot access system and essentially defends the right of Libertarians and other smaller parties to have easier access to the ballot. Please read the Observer editorial and give them positive feedback for covering this article.

So, the likelihood of getting elected by write-in vote is probably slim. However, in Robeson County and in the town of Orrum, write-in candidates did in fact win election to office. In Robeson County a write-in candidate was selected to be director of the county's Board of Election, and in Orrum two write-in candidates won election to the town's council.
