So, the likelihood of getting elected by write-in vote is probably slim. However, in Robeson County and in the town of Orrum, write-in candidates did in fact win election to office. In Robeson County a write-in candidate was selected to be director of the county's Board of Election, and in Orrum two write-in candidates won election to the town's council.
This goes to show that no race is too small for Libertarians. Write-in candidates and declared candidates for public office at the local level can use such elections to get a foot in the door. Director of a county's Board of Elections, or members of a town council, are positions that allow a candidate to get local government experience, and can help win election for higher office at a later date. I encourage all Cumberland County Libertarians to consider running for small elections.

Governor Purdue made a plea for protectionism through state-contracts in an op-ed that ran in today's Fayetteville Observer. As usual, she doesn't understand basic economics. Read the article there: http://live.fayobserver.com/Articles/2010/02/28/979116 and then view my comment at the bottom. Also, I'd invite you to click on Daryl Cobranchi's name on the comment above mine. He has a blog that is pretty good. Or, you can visit it here: http://cobranchi.com/ |
